Missions to Honduras / Social Tourism Program
FROM: www.projecthonduras.com
Good afternoon networkers...
I just finished updating the Missions to Honduras
(http://www.projecthonduras.com/missions) section of
the projecthonduras.com website. Please note that
there are fair number of new missions for 2005. Also
note that the Archives section
(http://www.projecthonduras.com/foreignmissions.xls)
is continually being updated, so you can begin to get
an appreciation of the number and diversity of the
groups that are traveling to Honduras on mission.
Clearly, we are only capturing a fraction of the
mission teams going to Honduras, but we're now
starting to at least get a feel for spectrum.
If you are planning a mission trip to Honduras within
the next year, please e-mail me the relevant
information and I'll go ahead and include your group
on the Missions to Honduras section. If you can
include the number of team members, that would be
helpful.
Remember that the goal of Missions to Honduras is to
track upcoming missions so that groups that will be
working in the country will know about each other
ahead of time. No use "stepping on each other", and
you never know when you can use a helping hand. We
need to be working together rather than in isolation.
Thanks.

SUBJ: volunteers looking for a project
12:46 pm US EST
I am forwarding to you a message we received from Cathy Stauffer of
Casa Corazón in Mountville, Pennsylvania. If you know of any specific
project(s) in Honduras that need support, please feel free to e-mail
Cathy at encstauffer@juno.com.
Message from Cathy:
I was recently contacted by the youth pastor of Mountville Mennonite
Church in Pennsylvania. They are looking for a week-long senior high
youth service project for summer 2005 and are interested in going to
Honduras. They would have about 30 youth plus advisors. They are
willing to help with construction, an orphanage, bible programs for
kids, drama, any other service project, or a combination of the above.
They are available the last week of July or the first week of August.
I am looking for a program in Honduras that is in need of many hands
and willing hearts to assist them with their projects. Any
suggestions or ideas? Please let me know.
Thanks,
Cathy Stauffer

SUBJ: Social Tourism Program - Don Udo's
We are still encouraging businesses in Honduras to
offer conferees and mission groups, in general,
discounts. We are trying to develop this concept
under something called the "Social Tourism Program".
See
http://www.projecthonduras.com/socialtourismprogram
The most recent business to offer a discount is Don
Udo's Hotel & Restaurant
(http://www.donudos.com/hotel-homeEN.htm) in Copan
Ruinas and San Pedro Sula.

The following is a a message from Udo van der Waag,
who is the owner of Don Udo's.
I recommend Don Udo's restaurant in Copan Ruinas
highly. Their atmosphere is charming and their steaks
are excellent... My favorite is the one with the
special coffee sauce. Don Udo's provided one of the
luncheons for the Conference on Honduras 2004.
Message from Udo:
We would like to offer to all mission groups in 2005
visiting Honduras a 20% discount. This applies to
lunches and dinners in Don Udo's restaurant in San
Pedro Sula and accommodations in Hotel Don Udo's-Copan
in Copan Ruinas. This offer is only valid for
reservations made in advance and subject to
availability.
