Hi all...

Jonathan Gieson, the cofounder of the Global Nomads Group
(www.gng.org) of New York, NY, is interested in developing contacts
with the Chorti Indian community. Global Nomads is in the process of
launching a project to provide indigenous peoples a tool, in the form
of live broadcasts and documentaries, to tell the world about 1)
their
culture and daily lives and 2) some of the challenges they are
currently facing.

When I met with Jonathan over lunch in April, we discussed the
possibility of having Global Nomads do a live broadcast (via
satellite), as part of the Conference on Honduras in Copan, featuring
the Chorti. The details of such a venture still need to be ironed
out,
and one of the things that would help us move it along would be an
exchange of views with representatives of the Chorti.

If anyone can help Jonathan establish contact with the appropriate
individuals, that would be great. Please let me know, and I'll
gladly
forward information to Jonathan.

Here's a little background on Global Nomads...

Founded in 1998, the Global Nomads Group (GNG) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to heightening children's understanding and
appreciation for the world and its people. Using interactive
technologies such as videoconferencing, GNG brings young people
together face-to-face to meet across cultural and national boundaries
to discuss their differences & similarities, and the world issues
that
affect them.

Global Nomads Group programs aim to:

-Increase young people's knowledge of the world and its people.
-Increase collaboration and dialogue between students of different
cultures and nationalities. -Highlight critical world issues ranging
from HIV/AIDS to global warming, to war. -Provide an educational
framework in which students can become the active leaders in their
own
education.

Thanks.
